E1X-030Family Portraits · Kansas City
Family portraits, directed.
Up to 75 minutes in the last soft light of the day. I plan the location, the grouping and the light before anyone arrives — so that once you're in front of the camera, nobody has to perform.
Limited · October only
The Fall Session — $345
30 minutes · five retouched images · 12 times across October 10, 17 and 25
What a family session is
We begin with the portrait everyone will want to frame, then let the session unfold naturally — parents with children, siblings together, quiet moments, big laughs, and everything in between.
You’ll never be left wondering where to stand or what to do. I’ll guide you when it matters, then give your family room to simply be yourselves.
The result is a collection that feels polished without feeling posed — including the photograph that may still be hanging on your wall twenty years from now.

How it works
We talk it through first
Who is in the frame, how old the youngest is, and what the photograph is for — a wall, a card, a grandparent. That decides the location and the hour we shoot.
The session, directed
Up to 75 minutes on location in soft evening light. Grouped portraits, then pairs, then the loose frames where everyone forgets the camera is there. Nobody has to hold a pose they hate.
The finished photographs
A private gallery of the strongest frames, then retouched finals delivered in 7–10 business days, ready for prints and cards.

Where we shoot in Kansas City
- Loose Park — trees, water, and open green in late light
- The Nelson-Atkins lawn — clean space, long shadows
- Country Club Plaza — warm stone and evening architecture
- Shawnee Mission Park — open field and treeline
- Your own home and yard — the room the family actually lives in
Questions families ask
Where do family sessions happen?
On location across the Kansas City metro — Overland Park, Leawood, Lenexa, a park, or your own home and yard. We choose the spot together before the date.
What time of day is best?
The hour before sunset, almost always. It is the softest light of the day and it flatters everyone in the frame. For families with small children we can shoot earlier in shade.
How many people can be in the session?
The session covers up to six immediate family members. Additional family members are $75 each, quoted before booking. Extended-family and multi-household groups are quoted separately, from $1,095.
What should we wear?
One palette across the whole family, no matching outfits. Solid colors and simple textures photograph cleaner than patterns and logos.
What does a family session cost?
The Family Portrait is $795 — up to 75 minutes, up to six immediate family members, one location, twelve retouched images. Every price, including add-ons, is published on the pricing page.
